What is this blog all about?
KeshKesh is a blog about online marketing. The topics I cover in this blog include search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing, running an online business, and WordPress hacks. I draw from my 6+ years of doing SEO, 4 years of running my own online businesses, and 15 years of web development and programming.
If you’re interested in internet marketing and building an online business, you’ve come to the right place. On these pages I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the latest developments in SEO, the things I’m doing now that are working for me, and where I see the industry going.
If you’re curious, the name for this blog is inspired by the once popular internet marketing blog called Dosh Dosh that I used to read back when I was just getting started. The blog was written by a Philosophy student from Toronto named Maki, and as a Philosophy student myself, I felt an instant connection to the blog. Unfortunately, the site is no longer available (although you can still read some of the articles on Archive.org) so this blog is an homage to Maki and his site.
Who is responsible for this blog?
My name is Takeshi Young, and I’m the author of this blog. I’ve been creating websites since middle school, but only seriously got into SEO about 6 years ago. My understanding of SEO was pretty basic back then, but in 2009 I started an online business with a buddy of mine (inspired by Tim Ferris’ 4 Hour Work Week), and suddenly with money on the line, my interest in SEO took off.
Through our business, I did SEO for dozens of sites, experimenting with every SEO tactic I could get my hands on, from white hat and black hat to everything in between. I’ve grown websites from nothing to tens of thousands of visitors a day, and eventually ended up working full-time as an SEO for a Silicon Valley tech company.
By the end of 2012, our business had grown to the point of making $30,000 a year in revenue, most of it passive income driven by SEO. At this point, I decided to sell my share in the company, and branch off to pursue new projects.
